I recently bought a 2.8H kenne bell Mustang GT. Car was tuned prior to me owning it on the pulley setup that is currently on the car. I was digging through all of the extras I received and came across a pulley that is roughly 1/8in smaller in diameter and was wondering if I swap pullies, will it require a WOT retune?

Believe I recall spark is at 14* peak and the dyno graph shows its running on 11.6-7 A/F.

No diameter sizes on these pullies but all I know is at WOT it makes 16lbs currently. Im assuming the pulley im looking to put on will produce 17-18lbs.

Any info is great!

1/16?

Typically 1/4" = 2psi.  So you're talking an 0.5psi increase.  Total retune required!!!

A 1/4" difference, so it's an 1/8" smaller, therefore it is a 1/16" less in size?

What diameter pulley is currently on there, and what do you have on the shelf?

Those paper suits were legit!!!

When i went from 9lb pulley to a 14lb pulley on my 1.7L I only added 2% fuel throughout. Even then it was too rich. Which is why I ask if It is needed for a WOT touch up or slap the pulley on and see what it can do.

The MAF can compensate for it, provided the sensor has the headroom and the transfer function is accurate.

Pulley on car = 3.50"

Pulley on shelf = ?

This is just my thinking on the issue. I would never change the pulley and hope I am safe. Especially on a car I just bought, you spent the money to get a really nice car, do you really want to change the pulley and hope it is safe even on a somewhat educated guess? I would change the pulley and get the extra boost, but I would want to piece of mind knowing my car is not only safe, but running efficiently.

Thank you for the input. I realized the guy gave me a wideband kit for the car that I will hook up prior to the pulley swap. Im also going to call the tuner and see exactly whats going on with the tune prior to pulley swap. Car runs extremely hard and with a few changes this car could be a street monster.
