After much frustration I have found a local Dist that can supply all of the bearings/seals to rebuild the V-1 and V-2 Vortech blowers. If you contact Vortech a basic seal repair is going to run $450 + shipping both ways......Seems steep to me considering the seal only costs $1.60 FYI I ordered 4 sets of the seals so if anyone needs one just let me know.

Below is a list of parts and the company to contact.

All of the leg work for the part numbers was done by Dedicated5.0 and posted over on corral.net and is our newest member here as well. Big thanks goes out to Mike for this Info.

If they leaking oil out from the front or rear seal or if there is any bearing noise present is really the only time it needs to come apart. On the 4.6's w/ the single 6 rib setup the blower isn't stressed nearly as hard as on a 5.0 where you can set the tension manually and use 6, 8, 10 or even 12 rib belts.

I'm not sure what Vortech charges for a complete rebuild but it was going to cost around 450 + shipping just to have the front seal changed. Vortech will not provide you with any parts so I would say it's much much cheaper this way.

From what I remember about doing the front seal:

Split the case by removing the allen head bolts. Remember how all the washers and stuff goes inside there and remove them. Punch the old seals out with a comparable sized socket. Clean the seal surface on the housing and then put the new seals in from the inside of the housing. It's pretty straight forward. I'm not sure about the rear seal since I didn't do it. That sound right BobCat?

I originally bought my vortech polished about 3 years ago now. Over the years it has generated a few scratches on it. Is it possible to get blowers repolished? Has anybody done this, and roughly how much? thanks

Cool, thanks. Saved that in case I ever need it, but I think I would rather have Bob do it when he gets around to it. He did it last time, and as far as I know it's not leaking anywhere. It's worth paying him to do it when you know it's done right
