Can Someone Tell Me About These Srt Neons?

I haven't really payed much attention to new cars that have been out the last 7 or 8 years other than the Mustangs, but since I got my fox I have had 3 of these guys try to race me. The websites I found say 230 HP so Im guessing these things will dust a stock fox. What kind of times do these things run and how easy to bump the HP numbers up in them is it?

First thing you need to know is that its a neon...so if you run one..it will break down half way through...so no worries there...

but seriously. Yes i admit they do make some power and can get going in the 13's easily WITH a good driver...but not for long..they are terribly built...i mean...terribly built....

they might be a good challenge for a stock fox. they are decently quick for being neons, but still nothing special.

If one wants to race, only go from a dig....LOL Kids like to mod the hell out of them, but the more they have done, the worse it gets trying to hook from a dig. Of course you need to make sure you get a good launch also.

I had the pleasure of putting a couple cars on my buddies stage 2 neon just a couple of weeks ago in my t-bird. He spun through first while I was saying bye bye.

So then my my vert should be able to handle one w/ a shift kit and 4.10's in it?


There were some bosnian kids piping me on south lindbergh last night and it was making this burping noise. I couldn't imagine going on w/ my life after enduring the ridicule of losing to the car so luckily I was getting ready to turn into hooters and didn't look like a total puss.

Some can be fast yes, but i have some buddies that ran a swarm of them out where i live, and a couple of the neons wanted to try a 70 roll on about a half mile straight away on a country road so their turbo could spool :shrug: annnnd still got beat. BUT, this was a cammed LS1 car, and another cammed LS1 car + more...

Theres some pretty quick skittles out on lindbergh every weekend. They run good from a roll. Of course most dont dig.

I know of a kid that has gone thru about 10 of these 4 banger "hot rods" :rolleyes: in the last two years, each and every time he tries to rub it in everyone's face that there 4 banger is putting out 3bigillion horsepower. and each and every time I see that vehicle being towed away, or on the side of the road because he blew it up with too much boost, or NOS :rolleyes:. yeah some of these cars are fast, but how long will these engines survive compared to a built V8. of course there are some V8 builders out there that dont do there homework on engine build up too, but at least Ive had the same 2 rides since 03 :popcorn:

i love that video so much...haha i have to show this kid with an srt4 at my work who thinks his car is such a badass...
he has soooooo much money put in the car but it still just cant beat a barely modified gt mustang to save his life.
trannnys been rebuilt like 4 times, all kinds of problems

My z06 on a 50 shot couldn't take out a silver srt4 from belleville. It was atleast in the 130 range mph wise. It hooked from slow speeds as well. Owner is in military now.

there are a couple runnin around in soco that are bad for sure idk if anyone knows eldin he's got a black one i believe he went 11.2 put 560whp down theres another black one and a yellow one that is even faster they are still jus a neon but for what they are thats pretty impressive.... ive seen alot of imports puttin 400 down and it seems that the motors dnt last lng at all but alot of ppl put 400+ on srt and they hold up alot longer....

a buddy from my work has one that he will race from a dig. I saw the dyno sheet on it and it is making about 630 HP, but it is still a neon.
